If we can’t back it with a public health body (EFSA, ECHA, ANSES, WHO, IARC) or a peer-reviewed scientific study, we don’t write it. It’s that simple.

The questions we actually get asked
Is the app really free?
Yes. The essentials are free, with no account and no limits: entries, search, alternatives, your home. The optional Pro plan adds online backup and syncing of your progress across devices.
What does the Pro plan include?
The freedom to switch devices without losing anything: your home, favourites and progress are backed up online and kept in sync. Fully local use remains possible forever, account or not.
How is the project funded?
Through the Pro plan, first and foremost: a gently priced subscription, with no advertising, ever. A few affiliate links may join it, always disclosed and at no extra cost to you. Either way, nothing ever touches the ratings: a product cannot buy its level.
What are your sources?
Public health bodies in Europe and beyond (EFSA, ECHA, ANSES, WHO, IARC), current regulation and the peer-reviewed scientific literature. Every entry cites its sources and states the level of evidence: when science hesitates, we write that too.
How is it different from Yuka?
Yuka rates what you eat and put on your skin. Salubre covers the rest: durable objects (pans, containers, baby bottles…). And above all, we don’t stop at the score: we tell you what to replace it with, at what price, and how to make it last.
